RMNB is the leading, independent voice for hockey in Washington, DC, and beyond. Since 2009, our team of credentialed reporters, professional columnists, and data analysts – with more than 40 years of experience – has provided the breaking news, boots-on-the-ground coverage, instant reactions, and human touch that are crucial if you want to follow Alex Ovechkin, the Washington Capitals, and the NHL.

A Letter from the Team
RMNB (Russian Machine Never Breaks) is a credentialed blog and media company covering the Washington Capitals and more. Since 2009, we have written about our preferred team, the NHL in general, and Alex Ovechkin in particular. With 29,000+ articles, it’s kind of a thing now.
You see, we’re not like the other sites out there. We don’t spew hot takes as if we’re god’s gift to sports journalism. We like stats as much as the other nerds, but the poetry of the game matters even more. We promise not to bury you in jargon or mindless buzzwords. We write for the People. We deliver original reporting right from rink plus analysis, interviews, and enough hockey silliness to make your workday bearable.
Our mission is simple: Make hockey as fun to read about as it is to watch. Everyone is welcome here – whether it’s your first week watching teh capitols or you were wrapped in swaddling clothes on opening night at Capital Centre back in ‘74. The only thing that matters to us is that we’re all together when the boys bring the Cup home (again).
For almost two decades, we’ve delivered stories you won’t find elsewhere. We’ve been credentialed at the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Calder Cup Playoffs, the NHL Draft, the Winter Classic, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals games, NASCAR races, and one very special victory parade. We’ve been behind the scenes at charity events, commercial shoots, exclusive parties, and surprise appearances. We were ice level as the Capitals won the first Stanley Cup for the first time and when the Hershey Bears won the Calder Cup for way more than the first time. We were in New York for Alex Ovechkin’s 895th goal and inside Capital One Arena for his 900th. We’ve been in the New York Times; we’ve been on DC’s NPR station, WAMU; we’ve been been quoted in the Washington Post; and we’ve been on the air with Monumental Sports Network, Al Galdi, ESPN, and Capitals Red Line.
We hope to be more than just another bookmark on your browser, more than just another handle on your timeline. We want to be the place you went to pour out your heart, to be the people who threw the party where your hand got sore from high-fiving too much, to be the silly shirt you wore the day after a big game. We’re here to make some noise and have some fun, and we need your help to do it.
Ian, Chris, Peter, Katie, Danielle, Jenny, and Alan – those are just the names on the site. RMNB is just as much about you as it is the hockey. So make yourself at home, invite your pals over, and kick your feet up on the coffee table. The game is gonna be on soon.
